Keeping Up with Parco!

21 April-4 May

The week started a bit differently for the Parco team. Natalia was working in Spain for Rurality Art Fest, Lisandra in Portugal, and Pablo was working in Bergolo. For Karla and me, Monday and Friday were holidays, but the show must go on, and in Bergolo it certainly did, with the LifeStyle youth exchange in full swing. While Pablo was sweating through work, we were sweating under the sun, enjoying our first gelato of the season.

With plenty of free time, Karla and I took the chance to explore. We went on walks, met the local frogs of Monesiglio, visited the river, and did stone skipping. On the days we were in the office, I was busy reviewing volunteer applications and searching locations for the upcoming Bormida Experience photoshoot, a project aimed at promoting the beautiful Bormida Valley. We're the organizers, directors, and even the models!

The following Monday, we held our usual Speaking Club. This week’s theme was Easter, so we chatted about how it’s celebrated in different countries. We even played the Greek egg-tapping game Tsougrisma. Traditionally it’s played with dyed eggs, but I got a little creative and made origami eggs instead. In the end, our local friend Mattia -a loyal Speaking Club regular- walked away with a champion certificate.

On Wednesday, we all met up in Bergolo, where two former volunteers, Miriam and Aitana, shared their volunteering experiences and answered our questions. The rest of the week? More holidays! So, just like the week before, Karla and I embraced the slow life and soaked up the peaceful nature of Monesiglio. Hope to see you again, ciao!
